Detectors and atomising nozzles are strategically positioned in relation to ignition sources, such as a deep fryer, so that fires are detected as soon as they occur and extinguished in the most efficient way. This ensures that the fire is extinguished before it can spread, for example, to the hood, grease filters and exhaust ducts.

How a Firespy fire protection system for kitchens works

In the event of fire, the temperature rise triggers the pneumatic actuators in the system’s detection elements.

The trigger causes a pressure rise in the detection pipe, which runs from the detectors to the container with extinguishing agent. Here, the pressure increase triggers a gas cartridge, which immediately presses extinguishing agent into the extinguishing pipe and out through the atomising nozzles.

The extinguishing agent is sprayed over the cooker/deep fryer in a fine mist, wetting and sealing solid surfaces and fat-covered surfaces so that the fire is smothered by a lack of oxygen. It also forms a sealing layer on the fat-covered surfaces, preventing reignition.
