Extinguishing measures

To ensure optimal prevention of fires and explosions, the advanced detection units are combined with automatic countermeasures that are quickly triggered as soon as an ignition source is detected.

We offer the following extinguishing measures:

Water extinguishing units

When an ignition source is detected, a fine mist of water is released from the extinguishing nozzles within milliseconds. This removes the thermal energy of the ignition source before it can trigger a fire or explosion.

The automatic extinguishing units consist of an extinguishing nozzle, valve, flow control, ball valve and connection box. The nozzles are made of high-quality stainless steel, which makes them highly resistant to wear. After extinguishing, the nozzle closing cone closes automatically to keep the nozzle free from contamination.

A wide range of nozzle types minimises the amount of water required for extinguishing, and ensures that the units can be used in many different areas of the operations.

Ultra-fast extinguishing: Two to three times faster response time

GreCon’s ultra-fast extinguishing technology UHS consists of a special high-speed solenoid valve and special spray nozzles adapted to this system. UHS technology can be used for extinguishing at distances of less than two metres.

Material flow diversion

Branch pipes with dampers can divert the material flow to prevent ignition sources from being transferred to other areas of production.

Branch pipes with dampers are also available in stainless steel for use in e.g. the food industry.

Interruption of material flow

Fire locks and shut-off valves can mechanically close off transport pipes to prevent the transfer of ignition sources to other areas of production.

Fire locks and shut-off valves are also available in stainless steel for use in e.g. the food industry.

Alternative extinguishing concepts

If required, special extinguishing concepts with gas, foam or steam can be used together with the system.

Pressure booster

If the available water pressure is not high enough for effective extinguishing, a pressure booster is installed to increase the pressure sufficiently. If the water supply to the booster is too low or if the unit is connected to a potable water supply, a storage tank must also be installed.
